Canada’s Food Guide is a resource that parents can use that describes the amount of food people need and what type of food is part of a healthy eating pattern. The eating pattern in Canada's Food Guide includes foods from each of the four food groups - Vegetables and Fruit, Grain Products, Milk and Alternatives, and Meat and Alternatives - plus a certain amount of added oils and fats. Canada's Food Guide gives practical tips about healthy eating for children, teens, adults and seniors from all cultural groups.
Canada's Food Guide has been translated into 10 different languages in addition to English and French! There is also a First Nation, Inuit and Metis version that includes both traditional foods and store-bought foods that are generally available, affordable and accessible across Canada and reflects the values, traditions and food choices of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
